Kharrima is Still A-w-e-s-o-m-e!

100We last checked in with Kharrima in December of 2008. Close to two years later, she is still going strong and is still awe -to-the-some!

A competitive gymnastics coach, this dynamo has changed majors seven times (elementary education, business, massage therapy, diagnostic medical sonography, health science, communication disorders and history)! She is currently majoring in nursing and aspires to get her training in lactation consulting and eventually become a midwife.

Here’s more on our wonderful Senior Supervisor Kharrima:

What is your Answers.com user name?

Kharrima

Remind us of what brought you to Answers.com and what keeps you around.

I was doing some work for a history class, and the unanswered questions I knew grabbed my attention. I started answering them and have been hooked ever since. ;-)

Since you were last featured, have there been any changes in your life? Exciting new developments?

I got engaged in January. The wedding will take place in March 2011.

Are you involved in any new hobbies or activities (outside of Answers.com)?

Most of my hobbies consist of school work, cooking, cleaning, gardening and planning my wedding.

What one feature on Answers.com are you directly responsible for suggesting?

I suggested the new image for the “new message” notification alert that comes up. In addition, I have suggested many, many new categories, the addition of the “Nominate as Supervisor/Premier Answerer” link on the bio pages.

If you could sum up your experiences on Answers.com in five words, what would you say?

Okay, just one more question…

Starring… your virtual love.

So before our house party last week, we invited anyone who couldn’t physically make it to midtown Manhattan last Thursday to send in postcards, images, or messages to represent themselves at the party.

And people sure did! Thanks to all the fans of Answers.com who sent us a lil piece of love to brighten our halls during (and after) the party last week.

Here’s a sampling of the love we got – too warm and fuzzy not to share. Check out the Facebook album for more.

What a night at Answers.com!

Thanks to everyone who planned, attended and ‘virtually’ participated in the Answers.com House Party last night! If pictures are any proof, it seems everyone had a great time, meeting local folks, chatting with the team, checking out the new office, getting a photo opp with the Orange Guy… and more.

Check ‘em out below… More photos in the Facebook album.

Matthew and Chris chat aside the Orange Guy.

Party people!

Five facts you didn’t know about… letters!

Letters. You write ‘em, you send ‘em, but have you ever studied them?

Specifically, letter frequency – how often different letters appear in English words. Well, I’m here to help you open your mind to some A-M-A-Z-I-N-G trivia:

  1. The English letter frequency sequence (from most to least common) is “ETAONRISHDLFCMUGYPWBVKXJQZ.”
  2. The “top eight” letters comprise about 65% of the total usage
  3. “T” is the most common first letter in English words at 16.7% of words.
  4. “X” is the least common first letter in English words at 0.005% of words.
  5. The use of letter frequencies and frequency analysis plays a fundamental role in several games, including hangman, Scrabble, Wheel of Fortune, Definition, Bananagrams, and cryptograms.

The Answers.com House Party: NOT password-protected!

Hey ya’ll!

Just a quick reminder that our House Party is this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. We’re celebrating our new remodeled digs with drinks, food and fun. And by fun we mean free booze and a gadget raffle!

A certain social networking site you may have heard of is hosting their own new office party this week too. But get this: you have to pass a test to get in! Our shindig ain’t like the Ivy League – you won’t find guest lists or bouncers. Everyone’s invited – friends, family, neighbors… Hey, even your hairdresser can tag along. Word has it that even some of Answers.com’s venerable Supervisors are showing up!

So cancel your plans to watch The Office (it’s a rerun anyway!) and head on over to our office! See ya there…
